The Week online at last
I just noticed that The Week at last has a proper web presence. Great news all round. For those that don’t know it, The Week presents a balanced summary of the previous week’s news by combining different reports on the same stories from multiple media outlets. Its perfect for those people without the time or the inclination to read a newspaper every day.

The End of The End
This past weekend saw the closing of a London nightlife institution, The End. After 13 years of hosting incredible parties, London is losing another of the clubs that helped to establish it as one of the homes of electronic music (both The Cross and The Key closed a year ago to make way for the new Eurostar terminal at St Pancras).
The final party fittingly featured DJs that have been with The...

Achieving teenage ambitions
So tonight Nightmares on Wax are coming to town. I have been trying to catch their live show for a long time, and I excited more than I should be.
I was into them way before I really knew who they were, mostly through Les Nuits and a few other standout track on Carboot Soul - they were defining ‘music in media’ way before Jose Gonzalez made it big with the Sony Bravia ads. They...

Double R t-shirts
I wear t-shirts all the time, in fact I really only wear a collar about 3 times a year, always under duress or at weddings.
I have had this quest over the last few years to find t-shirts that fit me really well, don’t wash-out and keep their shape. T-shirts that are just constructed. You can pull off a tshirt in a meeting as long as it is well cut and doesn’t have a smiley face on...

Long, long dinners
I miss the days of long drawn out dinners - what better way to kill an evening than to turn up at a restaurant 9pm and then have to be forcibly removed at 1.45 in the morning.
Last night I got to do that at Babbo, with friends and former room-mates. The food came slowly and we mostly had 6 months to catch up and see how much Pete has learnt about kombucha.

Mos Def at the Blue Note
I went to see Mos Def at the Blue Note last night, and as suspected, he did not disappoint. The line took an hour and a half to work through, but the weather was warmer and there were some interesting folks to talk to.
The band were awesome, and in an environment as intimate as this his lyrics were really powerful - in short he put on a great, great show.
Two shows tonight and two tomorrow -...

Carlon in the city
Saw Carlon play at the Sullivan Rooms on Friday - their live show is really coming together well, and I think that the Arlene’s Grocery residency will only make them even tighter.
The crowd gets bigger all the time - lots of new faces on Friday and that is really great news.

One night in Paris
One of the great things about being in London is how quick and easy it is to get to other amazing cities. Last weekend I took advantage of the Eurostar red-eye special to head over to Paris for 16 hours.
We packed in a lot, starting with the modern art collection at the Pompidou Center - in my opinion the best single collection of modern art in the world. We got to check out a few bars in St...
