Joining forces
Really liking the latest joint campaign from Jet Blue and Bowery Presents. The competition offers bands and artists to perform live at Jet Blue’s much-lauded Terminal 5 at JFK, as well as at Bowery’s Terminal 5 venue in Manhattan. The project was really set up for success with these two companies. I believe Bowery Presents are primarily responsible for making New York the best city...

Monetizing in channels
I was thinking about channels this week - the pipes that some intermediary companies are able to create between their customer group and the brands trying to target them. Tablet Hotels is a great example of a company doing it well. Tablet has handpicked the best hotels in the nicest destinations, and built a repository of amazing places to stay around the world. It has become the trusted source...

Simple design
I love simple design, and this watch from Defakto really appeals. Straightforward design, tells you the time at the type of accuracy that we should all strive to live by. Raphael Ickler, the designer, has some form in the family, but is currently a marketing student in Germany. If I was a design firm, I would be giving him a call about his plans for graduation.

WWDC 2009
WWDC starts in San Francisco in about an hour. I am really interested to see what Apple announce today. Personally speaking, I hope we don’t see Steve Jobs. He is on a well deserved and much needed break. The story should be the products, not the CEO’s health. By building the WWDC into the most widely anticipated corporate event in the calendar, Apple has become its own worst enemy....

WatchWatch
Another breathtaking piece of work from Chris Milk, who has done creative work with and for some of the greatest. This is his entry to the 42 Second Dream Film Festival in Beijing. The project asked 42 of the world’s leading film directors to create a 42 second film of the dream that haunts and inspires them. Some really powerful work, although Chris’s entry is my favorite. Nudge to...

Airstream
I think i really want one of these. Its the new Basecamp from Airstream. Every since I got to properly check out an Airstream out west, and hung out with one at SXSW 2008, I have fallen for their unapologetic generational design and their crazy functionality. Its great that Airstream are continuing to innovate on the inside, and maintain the beauty and identity on the outside.

Style vs substance in deal making
Had a great discussion about negotiations with a friend over lunch today. He is currently finalizing the details of a compensation package for a new job at a growing start-up. During the negotiation, he and his employer have gone back and forth a few times on almost all aspects of the contract. And there have been some big shifts in terms over the negotiation. Ultimately, I think the package is...
