Bands to see in 2009
I have been thinking hard about this for the last week or two - there are a few bands that I really need to see in 2009 that I have never seen before. Bands whose music I have been listening too a lot over the last few months, but I have not managed to see live until now.
Band of Horses are a band I have wanted to see for some time - the album above, everything all the time, has been constantly playing in my apartment for about a year. They remind me a lot of My Morning Jacket, and have some stellar performances lined up this year at great venues across the country.
The Shins are another band that have been around for a while and that I really need to tick off the list. Wincing the night away may be their best album so far so I think now s a great time to see them. They are playing terminal 5 at the end of May when I am away, so this might have to be a roadtrip show.
Finally, Bon Iver. Say no more really, except that I am sad I missed the more intimate round of gigs that he played over the last couple of years. I am still considering driving out to Cape Cod in a couple of weeks to see him - let me know if you want to come along.
All part of the grand plan to beat Ian and Pete to 50 shows this year…
