Customer Service Calls

Another classic customer service experience over the phone today.

I wonder if it would be that hard to set up a phone system that could switch who the call was charged to, depending on whether you are actually speaking to someone, or if you are on hold. Seems like time on hold is not really my fault, not sure why I should be paying for it. Some companies (read: Time Warner) are especially bad at this. On several occasions I have been on hold with them for 45mins before getting through to someone. Or maybe launch a phone-based Pandora to stream music I want to listen to as I wait.

I’d like to see the day when all customer service call charges are taken on by the service provider, but may be this would be a reasonable first step? And I am talking about plan minutes lost, as well as billed calls.

Might help to tone down customer anger when they finally get through.
