Achieving teenage ambitions
So tonight Nightmares on Wax are coming to town. I have been trying to catch their live show for a long time, and I excited more than I should be.
I was into them way before I really knew who they were, mostly through Les Nuits and a few other standout track on Carboot Soul - they were defining ‘music in media’ way before Jose Gonzalez made it big with the Sony Bravia ads. They produced a couple of really well produced albums in the early 90s that still sound relevant today. Kind of like cross-over dub, or at least so I like to think.
It will be interesting to see what they play tonight, almost 15 years later. I know they have been working on some new material, they are still knocking out great remixes and they released arguably the best CD in the awesome Late Night Tales collection by Azuli.
