Dimitri Martin and Hannibal Burress

Had a great weekend of live events this last weekend - I’ll blog briefly about all of them today. The weirdest thing about two of the three shows was that I thought the supporting acts were way better than the main acts. Its not often that is the case. In all cases, I am posting the picture of the better performer.

On Friday night I saw Dimitri Martin at MHOW. He was great, as you would expect, and some of his one-liners were outrageously funny. His sketch comedy is well thought-out and executed, and he uses variety really well to keep the flow of his show going. He had a guy come up on stage and managed to maintain a tremendous level of comedy even when it was clear that the guy was hell bent on destruction. That takes some talent. But after 80mins, I got the idea, and it started to wear a little bit.

Cory harrassed me into arriving early, and I am really glad that I did. I got to check out Hannibal Burress, who gave as good a comedy performance as I have seen in ages. More than anything else, his jokes and observations were just really, really funny. Which is still the mark of a great comedian in my book.
